An entry to Github Game-off 2023. The theme is "Scale"

  • This game is about a gecko (A creature with scales) and he fights pirahnas (also scaled creatures)
  • You must scale the depths of the ocean to reach your goal (in the end you must scale a steep cliff to escape)
  • The levels scale in difficulty and size as the game goes on

(Gamepad recommended)

Note: There are known issues if you are using a monitor that refreshes more than 60 times per second. I have tried to fix them but since I don't have a monitor like this I can't verify whether the problems are fixed or not. (update: I am pretty sure the game should run the same on all monitors now, let me know if this is not the case)

Use arrow keys/gamepad joystick for movement. You'll move fast when you're sticking to walls, and you'll move slowly in the water. (Geckos are a lot better at climbing than at swimming)

Use the spacebar or "A" button on gamepad to boost. (If you're on gamepad, you can actually use any button you want.) Boost into the Piranhas to attack them.

Earn bubbles from defeated Piranhas to restore your health and oxygen. Don't suffocate!

Help this broken-hearted lizard save his friend the axolotl!

Note that the optimization for mobile devices is still in-progress, it’s playable on phones but it needs to be improved. It should run fine on most desktops. If you're on mobile, give it a go anyways! Just expect a frame drop here and there.

This game takes roughly 5-10 minutes to complete, depending on your skill level. I sorta want to see some people try to speed run it and abuse the movement tech I designed for the Gecko.

Looks very cute! I got stuck on the outer borders of the game though lol

Oh no! I've been trying to fix those clipping issues, if you send a screenshot I could try to patch it for future versions. (IDK if I'd be allowed to change the game since the jam is already done though)

I tried playing again but it hasn't done it again so I can't get a screenshot unfortunately.

ok, well I hope you enjoy! Thanks for the comment!
